"I purchased a hobby"
"I purchased a hobby", once announced my friend, while we were conversing in a train journey. That baffled me, how come one purchases a hobby. My friend was very kind in explaining his honesty to quench my suddenly rising curiosity.
Before appearing for any interview, one needs to fill many apparatus of a resume. It should look like a perfect building with varieties of different architecture, radiating an aura to attract the attention of the interviewer. One part to be filled is "My hobbies". What about the folks who really don't have any hobby? Even if they have something (he doesn't know that these are hobbies), which can be put into this basket (analyzing the context of oxford dictionary), but that's NOT something to be written in a resume or explained in an interview!
So my friend read few standard resumes, and asked some of his friends. "Philately" is the answer he got often. Before he could understood what "stamp collection" actually is, he felt the "term" sounds so good. And, finally he discovered a hobby!
Then he felt, he simply can't write in his resume, that his hobby is "Philately". Being very studious, he started doing some micro research so that he can answer if any unwanted questions will bombard on him. And, to give a perfect end to his "necessary hobby", he purchased stamps of worth thousands! Now he is a confident candidate, because he truly into the hobby of "Philately", by purchasing it!
Few months later he did get placed in one of his dream jobs. I don't know if his "purchased hobby" has anything to do with his selection. But that way, he didn't leave any stone unturned to appear for his dream job!
